Book Review: Haunted

Meet the smart, sexy — supernatural — women of the otherworld.

Eve Levine — half-demon, black witch and devoted mother — has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life and can’t be killed again — which comes in handy when you’ve made as many enemies as Eve. Yes, the afterlife isn’t too bad — all she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter, Savannah, and she’ll be happy.

But fate — or more exactly, the Fates — have other plans. Eve owes them a favor, and they’ve just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her. The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy — previous hunters have been driven insane in the process. As if that’s not problem enough, the only way to stop her is with an angel’s sword. And Eve is no angel. . .

In Haunted by Kelley Armstrong we meet Eve Levine, dark witch and half demon. She's been mentioned in the previous three books as Savannah's deceased mother. She lost her life a bit before Stolen when she and her daughter were captured.

Considering the fact that our narrator is dead, this novel takes place in the supernatural afterlife. She is sent on a mission by the Fates to catch Nix. And she needs help from our side. Which sends her straight to our favorite necro, Jaime Vegas. "Eve Levine. On a mission from God. I really must be wearing my stupid face today." After Eve gets rid of a pesky, headless spook, Jaime agrees to help.

Eve is a fun character. Strong and kick-ass. She has some similar qualities to Elena. Even with her demon father and dark magic ways, she's a good mother and an awesome addition to our cast of Otherworld characters. In the afterlife, she has reconnected with Kristof Nast, her daughter’s father. One thing I really enjoyed was her friendship with Jaime. They couldn't be more different, but they work together fabulously. The other thing I really enjoyed was the creepiness in some of the scenes in the afterlife. Scariest book of this series.

I really love Eve, I think she might even be my favorite of the women. She's so strong and selfless yet not perfect in any way.
Do you like the new black covers? i love them and have been slowly switching over.

I like that they match. It annoys me that the US ones don't. But I'm not a huge fan of the Canadian covers. I liked the new UK ones best. The new UK is the 2nd one in the post.

I didn't know you read this series. It's my favorite series ever!!!
